Life

37 + minitues for a 5k. I have never, ever, ever run that (or walked for that matter) slow in my life. Then again I have never run with my daughter. Yes, it was the big Girls on The Run 5k. I must say I was so proud of Julia. So DAMN proud of her. She kept a better pace than I thought was she could. Did she listen to mom's advice on the run? Maybe for about 30 seconds. It went kind of like "slow your pace down, not so fast" "do you REALLY want to walk"(I said that 5 times) "use your arms on the uphill" That last one I repeated every uphill and finally she says "hey!" Yes it works child, would I steer you wrong? I really wanted to mentor her on putting targets on people's back. Though not advice I want other parents to hear. Then I sound like "that crazy mom". I did make her sprint to the finish because that's the golden rule.

I must admit that while waiting for the start I had the urge to leave her in the dust and just pound the course. (it was so cold and you know that's my running weather) Being the good mom I am I stayed with her and offered encouragement, tissues and my arms as a clothes holder. Yes, not wearing your ski jacket makes you go faster! (it WAS freezing)

So it seems I'm running another 5k Thursday morning. Go figure .... two 5ks in less than a week. Yeah me! I'm back baby. I just needed to get my life in order. Things were not well this summer with the loss of work hours and the stress of money.

My son has quit swim team (long story on why I allowed this) and is taking guitar lessons. My daughter is bored on the Silver team. I've received permission to move her to Gold. My littlest.....moving him to night swim lessons when this session is up...I miss watching him learning.

What else I've colored my hair back to my natural color, learned that 2 year old mascara really doesn't work well and I now know how to use cream eye-liner. Yes, I'm miss fancy pants.

Oh and I'm buying a new pair of Brooks sneakers. Nothing like guilting myself into pavement runs and/or trail runs with the dog.

One last thought. Under Arm0ur. Who doesn't own that shit? Seriously? I might of been the 1% at the race that wasn't wearing it (shhh, I had the socks on). Some chick had this HUGE UA thing on her jacket. I hope to see her Thursday morning! That's a target I can beat.

To race shoulder to shoulder with our children is always a wonderful experience. I cannot wait for doing it with my grandson!
