Never say never

I got sucked in last night. Since the chief himself was going to speak nothing was on tv. So I watched Ido1. Yes I said it was a stupid show and that I would never watch it, blah, blah, blah. I did channel surf during it, but was hooked on some guy named Sundance and somebody that looked alot like a young Fide1 Castr0. Neither looked like they could sing, but WOW. I'll probably check in to see if they are still in the running later on in the season.

I did get a run in yesterday. Outside too. (good thing b/c the walkers were on the high end treadmills) I ran an 8:50 pace for 3.7 miles. I was pushing it during a lot of the run. I just wanted to get the damn thing over with. Of course at the end I could of run for another 2 or so miles (if I hadn't done my 5k finish sprint practice....which is how I end all runs) I swear my heart rate is hitting 183 on the sprint.

Why?

Why does every kid today have a peanut allergy? My littlest loves peanut butter. I can not pack a peanut butter sandwhich, honey nut cheerios or any kinda of something nut in his lunch b/c it is a peanut free room. I don't remember any kid growing up being allergic to peanut butter. Today every kid is allergic to it. (with the exception of mine and all my friends children) I read an article in the NY Times a long time ago where in the poor inner city school not one kid was allergic (probably about 1,000+ kids) but in some foo foo private school 30% of 300 children were allergic to peanut butter. WTF?

Why is the above child smaking his spiderman doll against the wall saying "you're tupid" That is one word we don't use in our house. (well my husband did ask the kids if they were stupid in the car the other day.... it was a good question at the time) The above child was pushing his train around saying I'm pushing and I thought he was saying I'm a pus*y. (then he would say you pus*y)I kept asking him to repeat it (another word we don't use) and finally my husband said "he's PUSHING. Get your mind out of the gutter."

Why does my kindergardener need a snack when he is only in school for 2.5 hours? He can surely survive without food for those hours.

Why do I always get in the wrong line at the store. I mean always. I get in the line where something goes wrong. Either the checker is an idiot or the customer is. Never fails.

Why are some people so lazy that they have to park in the fire lane to get their takeout. Is it that hard to walk 50 feet? Yes if you have 3 children it can be a real pain in the ass. Especially when one is named David, but if I can do it so can you. Once my family was eating at our favorite burger joint and some high maintence lady in her tennis outfit parks her SUV in the fire lane, gets out with her 13 year old and proceeds to order her food. Was the outfit for show? It must of been if she was so handicapped that she couldn't walk the 50ft. Of course my husband and I tear her to shreds while we eat our food. (that is fun)

Why does my husband seem to wither away when it's that time of the month. You'd think he was being shipped off for war the next day. He's barely functionable. I think he would sink into deep depression if it lasted any longer than it does.

Why does the above person refuse to load the dishwasher the way I want it? Is it that hard to put the spoons in one compartment, forks and knives in another? It really must be.

Those are my weekly bitches.

I might have to steal some treadmill time tonight. If one of my machines is open I'm on it. Now that all the new year people are still working out it's pretty crowded in there. This works for me and against me. I can hide, but the loser walkers (those wearing clogs) seem to like the high end treadmills. I need to find some more running routes. I'm so tired of the same thing every time I run. (i've been bitching about this for over a year now) I've flipped routes, tried new ones, but I'm getting quite bored. I have noticed that when I flip a route that some of the hills I run are quite long. I need to get longer runs in, and though I like cold weather.....when it's under 20 degrees, it becomes not to fun. Neither are 30 mph wind gusts. I'm just trying to get 3 runs in a week. Since I don't have any runs in so far this week, I'm starting to get antsy. I think this explains all my bitchyness earlier.

I have vomited more in 2007 than I have in the past 10 years. Yes that is nice. My husband and I got food poisening the other night. (i think it was the calamari) When we got home I started getting some stomach cramping. At 3 I woke up in a sweat and by 3:30 I was vomiting in a bowl in our den. Then the other end acted up. By 7:30 I vomiting bile and still hitting the toilet. My husband got the kids ready for school, called his office, went back to bed and the next time I saw him awake it was 9pm. At that time he said it felt like someone had taken him on a boat in the "Perfect Storm" AND kicked him in the balls. The next day I still felt crappy, but managed to finally eat food. I have learned that Orange Gat0rad3 rocks, and I will never eat calamari at a steak joint.

From reading other blogs I think I am the only runner that loves running in cold weather. I went out today for a slow run and ran a 9:05 pace. If I weren't a girl I would be all over trail running. I watch to much Law and Order, CSI's and Medium so that's not an option. If only I were a "Hero". (love that show)

Speaking of shows I must be the only American that just doesn't enjoy "Am3r!can !d01. (or d3al or n0 deal for that matter) I tried watching idol the other night and it doesn't do it for me. My daughter wants to know why she can't watch it since all her friends are watching it. Well for #1 you should be in bed by 8 and #2 be happy I let you watch Spong3 B0B. At least that show makes me laugh.

There is a new gym in town. Only $183 for a family to join. (that includes the summer pool) Yes we are probably the 1% of families that are not joining the gym. I could buy two pairs of running shoes for that (for the year) and be happier outside than stuck on a treadmill running to whatever is on the TV. We will probably join the Y in the fall for swimming for the kids. My daughter was asked to join the swim team where she takes lessons. I decided not to commit. It's very intense there (not to mention the price and fees that go along with it) Last time I was there the kids (ok teenagers) were getting ready to go to Denver for some meet and they were training with some kind of snorkeling gear to get their breathing/lungs ready. It's the first time I saw people doing flip turns with snorkeling gear. I could watch these kids swim all day. They are just so graceful in the water. I actually think (know) that if I got into the pool (it's only been a year) I could start training and do a little tri. I have the swimming and running covered, just not the bike. Then again I'm not to interested in biking. Maybe in the summer when running is to hard I'll try the bike thing. No, too much to invest (shoes, had, bike, tires ......) Nice dream though.

Cheating

Yes today I cheated. Or stole, I'm not sure. I went to go stroller running with David this morning and he cried for 15 minutes straight. (he wanted to get our of the jogger) I was going to be a cardio-bitch and just keep going to get my 30 minutes in. But alas I didn't want any neighbors to think I'm a horrible, mean mom so I went home.

Today my oldest son had swimming lessons at my old gym. So instead of watching his lessons I jumped on one of my favorite treadmills and did speed interval training. The whole time (20 min) I was freaking out that someone would catch me on it. What would they do to me? What would be my excuse? I have no idea on either question. It did feel great to do sprints on the treadmill again. (it's the only thing I like doing on that dreaded machine) I just had to get a run in today (probably b/c pushing the jogger really didn't feel too much like torture) If I could of hit pavement today I think it would of been one of those awesome run days. Oh well.

On a good note...my littlest will be released from speech therapy when he is 3. He could actually be released now, but I asked that it continues until his birthday. His latest eval. puts him where he needs to be and above in other categories. This is fantastic b/c when he was first tested last year he was a rock bottom for everything except motor skills.

The other two are complaining. Gotta run!

Warning:

Wearing Br1tn3y Sp3ars perfume may cause you to act like her. Case in point. I host a New Years Eve party (she did hers at Pure) me ... my house. At 12:15 I feel great with a little buzz going. Five (5) glasses of champagne later (12:45 am) I manage to worship the porcelain goddess. (she passes out cold) Later I think the goddess is my bed and manage to finish the worshipping there. At least I kept my panties (and pants) on during the entire incident. Three (3) days later I recover from my hangover. This is why I don't drink. I pretty much quit drinking last year during my half marathon training. I have a hard time finishing a beer on most nights (when I need a sedative from the kid madness) red wine makes me nauseous anymore (unless it's pricey) I've discovered lemon drop martini's (but the bartender makes them better than me b/c he charges $7+) I'm getting old.

Other than that the new year has started off well. I'm running under 9 min on a good run and slow runs are at 9:30. I ran a 4+ mile yesterday with the wind at my back for 1/10 of it and at my face and side during the rest of the run. Nice.

I don't really have any weight loss/exercise new year's resolutions this year. I just want to maintain my weight under 140 and of course keep running.

I remember running partner #1 telling me this story. She was talking to her hairdresser and telling her about the last 5k we ran and how much we loved racing in them. Her hairdresser said she used to love running 5k's, but she quit them and just ran for fun. Of course running partner #1 and I thought "run for fun? Is she nuts" "She doesn't train for anything, she just runs b/c she likes it? WTH?" That is where I am in my life now. Just running for the pleasure of it. Don't get me wrong I still hate those first 5 minutes of most runs, sometimes I just want to walk around mile 3, I have no idea why I push myself to sprints on some days....but in the end I feel great. I guess I'm running for fun now.
